Innovation

Innovation is the first law of life; change is second !

Innovation comes with a relentless focus on experience and not being satisfied by "just getting it out". You might just take time to create a complex experience by taking your innovative idea and ruthlessly concentrating on how to reduce it to its essence. It's not just about cool new feature. It's more about how you can simplify it to a compelling solution.

Tips to help create an innovative culture :

 •  Engage and empower the entire team.Everyone in your organization should feel empowered to unleash his or her entrepreneurial spirit.

 • Suspend judgment. Identify “the good” in the ideas instead.

 • “Fail big, but fail soon.”Team members must also know that they have permission to fail. Sometimes you must move quickly and you can’t always play it safe.

 • Set a good example.Take time to connect, mentor and develop your team members. Inspire them to create, look for new approaches and think outside the box.

 • Pay attention to the details.Designate specific goals, projects, times and expectations. These types of details ensure the innovation process doesn’t turn into a time suck.

 • Don’t forget about the physical environment. The physical environment people are in can influence how they feel, think and interact and can impact the quality and quantity in the innovation process.

The idea of innovation is taking off just as fast as the businesses that embrace it.

But, not all companies are prepared to push innovation within their organizations. Changing workplace systems and procedures requires resilience and flexibility, and it’s an unfortunate reality that many people are afraid of or continue to resist change

Some of the most useful innovations :

These inventions have certainly become our daily need now !

The ballpoint pen : was the equivalent of today’s smartphone. Before the ballpoint pen, writing was a stationary act that had to be done on a certain kind of desk, with all the other things at hand that allowed you to write.

The ballpoint pen turns writing into something that could happen anywhere. Plastic mass production allowed the pens to become even cheaper, allowing for the transformation of societies.

The Moving Stairs :

Nathan Ames, an inventor, applied for the patent in 1859 for the first kind of moving stairs, with a belt attached with three wheels, and powered by kinetic energy. This was never built.

As the 19th century came to an end, there were improvements in the way people lived and worked, facilitating the development of malls, skyscrapers, and electric subway trains. The print and photography industry paved the way for better advertising of products and services.

The Bicycles :

Bicycles made people see more of the world, as they were roaming through surrounding towns and places they wouldn’t have come otherwise. Cities were filled with bicycle riders enjoying the outside and being able to experience life in the open.

Cities were seeing rapid change as the streets and country roads became better, with special ‘cycle paths’ opening in 1895.

The Wheel :

The wheel and the axle didn’t suddenly spring up, but were a gradual, phased invention, starting with rollers that reduced friction on the ground, and helped the Egyptians and Mesopotamians move heavy objects.

The oldest discovered axle was found inside a potter’s wheel in a miniature, toy-like form in Mesopotamia. The fact that the center of the wheel is stationary as compared to the circumference is in fact the greatest mechanical insight ever known.

Combining the wheel with an axle was genius, leading to the invention of the wagon and other transport vehicles.

YOUTH-LED SOCIAL INNOVATIONS :

When it comes to youth-led social innovation, how much a project is tech dependent is usually related to where the innovator comes from (many communities around the world have little or no access to tech in general). This has a direct impact of the type of innovative solutions a young person will be able to create. This also influences their chances to appear "exciting" in the eyes of possible investors.Low-tech projects can undoubtedly still be mind blowing.

BITCOIN WAS BORN FROM CRISIS :

In the middle of the 2008 banking crisis, a group of anarchists, libertarians, and other tech-savvy true believers created digital cash.

In August 2008, bitcoin dot org was registered as a domain. On Halloween the same year, Satoshi Nakamoto put up a whitepaper describing a decentralised system of electronic transactions that did not involve a financial institution.

RELATION BETWEEN DEPRESSION & TECHNOLOGY :

The new virus has forced the entire world in an unprecedented lock-down.

In these times of a looming unknown future, existential fear and separation from friends and family, millions are resorting to online help to deal with their anxieties. Demand for apps for managing stress has skyrocketed, with many App makers making their premium content free.

There are changes in regulation and relaxation of the constraints that earlier made it impossible to meet digitally with a mental health doctor. Telehealth and online mental health services are seeing a transition due to a large spike in counseling requests.

A PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY :

If you time-traveled to the 1960s, or the 1980s, and tried to describe smartphones to the people you met, they wouldn’t believe you.It is an all-in-one piece of tech that lets you do practically anything. To people from previous generations, these would appear as Superpowers.Yet in the current age, a section of people are despising smartphones and want to get rid of them.

Si-Fi's INFLUENCE ON INNOVATION :

Science fiction, by definition, is science that isn’t real. But looking beyond the fantastical elements there are some very innovative ideas, a lot of which have had a real influence on modern technology. Here are some examples:Star Trek: The motion Picture predicted the Internet as embodied in the movie by the all-enveloping sentient machine ‘V’Ger’.Ready Player One predicted VR technology and virtual workplaces.Total Recall predicted self-driving cars. iRobot predicted self-driving cars that would allow the driver to take over too.Minority Report predicted interactive augmented reality now being commercialized as wearable pair of glasses.Back to the Future predicted the self-tying shoes.
